Million Mile Month: Week 2

The Healthcode.org’s Million Mile Month is well underway, and to date, the Million Mile Month community has logged over 500,000 miles based on the email sent to participants. Based on this, as in the past, it looks like the million mile goal may be achieved.

This pedometer geek has contributed a small part, nearly 60 miles of the 100 mile goal set. With two weeks to go, this pedometer geek is feeling good about the possibility of achieving my personal goal as well.

Yet, with all the positive results, there is still room for more participants, and still almost two weeks to set a goal and get active. Hike, bike, run, swim, and join the fun. #MMM2018 @HealthcodeIAM

By the way, it is National Poetry Month, and today is International Haiku Day so in honor of both, one of my haiku:

cherry blossoms whirl…
young girl freed
of training wheels

About pedometergeek

A pharmacist by profession, a haiku poet by nature, I read and write. I have my debut book of haiku, Ohayo Haiku, and another somewhat alternative haiku book, Three Breaths, but write other genres. I have an illustrated children's book, The Adventures of Aloysius. I also read...lots of novels! My favorite is, and remains, Ayn Rand's Atlas Shrugged but I am also a big Harry Potter fan. I truly am a pedometer geek strapping on my pedometer as soon as I awaken.

Continued success in achieving your goal! I wasn’t able to get out as much as I would have liked while I was away. But I did use the gym a tad and used the stairs when I could. I got into town towards the east about 3 times up this one hill that registered as several flights of stairs as it was so steep! And while watching the last mile with Dez (the woman winner this year for the Boston Marathon…) I jogged with her in my hotel room!

You know I can see myself in you haiku. I didn’t learn how to ride a bike until I was in my early teens. And that joy is relayed in your verse!

Hope you got my post card. I know there is an app to turn photos into PCs – I’m going to see if my son can help me put that on my laptop. I know it’s for cell phones. I’m just not all that comfortable about having a credit card attached to an app… I’ll have to look to see if the local photo places might do that – take a photo and print it up as a PC maybe one of the office stores. Then I’d just have to take a thumb drive with just the selected photos… yet something else I don’t yet know how to do…

  2. You keep yourself active, JP…even on vacation. Running the last mile, absolutely fantastic.

I did receive your post card of the Native American design. Loved it, and thank you. I have made postcards of photos. The 3X5 and 4×6 make wonderful postcards. I upload photos to Walgreens all the time and they print them at the local store. I don’t know if WAG requires a credit card, but I pay for them in the store.

I learned to ride my bicycle long after my younger sister did (and she is nearly two years younger than me). In fact, most of the kids in my neighborhood learned before I did. It took one determined afternoon on my own to accomplish the feat, but it was freeing. I am glad you identified with my haiku.

Keep moving; keep being active; and keep me motivated.

The app I was talking about actually (with your payment) provides the postage on the card and all you have to do is write – they mail it!

I go to the other big “C” store for photos. I know you can do stuff online for your order, but the one time I tried the photos didn’t quite do as well as when enlarged them… so I do them myself at the photo kiosk.

I got a bunch of steps in yesterday with the first mow of the season – even though I did it in three passes! Come to find out that hubby had forgotten to put the mulch setting on – so I was double passing some areas to break up the ‘clumps’.

Back home I use my Simply Fit board when watching TV… Keep going YOU can do it!!

    • JP, you keep rocking it with the steps. How do you like the Simply Fit board? I have seen them in stores and wondered about them after I saw them demonstrated on TV. Do you ever feel like you are going to fall off or tip over? Just curious…and I could use all the exercise I can get.

If you get one – just watch the video on how to use it… I probably should have done that first. But no, I don’t feel like I am going to fall off, even with using weights.
Not good on just wood floors or concrete. Better with a patch of low pile rug. A towel on the floor doesn’t really work either. There has to be a plastic grip on wood, tile or linoleum. I’ve only ever used it inside – though the commercial shows folks using it outside (on what ever platform that is…)

        🙂

  4. That is really helpful, thanks! Knowing how I am, I would definitely watch the video.
