Million Mile Month 2018: Week 1

April is the month for the Million Mile Month challenge, which is run by Healthcode.org. Throughout the month all participants work together toward the goal of reaching a million miles. Each participant chooses a goal and can pursue it through walking, running, biking, swimming, or other ways of reaching that goal.

This pedometer geek chose a goal of 100 miles during the month of April. After the first week, the pedometer geek can report approximately 30 miles of the 100 miles is complete, leaving about 70 miles to go. It’s a decent start, but only time will tell if the personal goal will be met as well as whether the community members who are participating with reach the million miles.

Of course, it is never too late to join the challenge.

About pedometergeek

A pharmacist by profession, a haiku poet by nature, I read and write. I have a book of haiku, Ohayo Haiku, and another somewhat alternative haiku book, Three Breaths, but write other genres. I also read...lots of novels! My favorite is, and remains, Ayn Rand's Atlas Shrugged but I am also a big Harry Potter fan. I truly am a pedometer geek strapping on my pedometer as soon as I awaken.

    Wishing you continuing success.
Cheers to all who are participating.

I’m still doing my average, some days more. Yesterday and today I got in 7 miles plus.
It was a tad cold and though not heavy it was snowing most of the day….

    • Well, you are doing better than me, JP. Kudos to you.
I have just started working in a part-time job (it will last a month) and don’t get the opportunity to get out there and walk as much. They were beginning to worry about me because I was “pacing” when all I was doing was making sure I hit the activity level every hour.

I like being semi-retired so I can travel with my hubby when the opportunity comes up.
Today the weather was better (in the morning) so I walked into town and all the way to the end of the main street.

When I go to the gym… I put the fit bit on my ankle – to record my steps. That way I can hold on to the bar that ticks off your heart rate. Sometimes when I’m mowing the lawn or riding a bike I do that to … alternat location – I just can’t see the time when I do that 😉

  3. I’ve been wimping out. Average has dropped to eight miles a day. Didn’t join the million mile month as walking is fourth or fifth on my priority list. I admire your perseverance and dedication. Keep going!
