A Word From Our Sponsor
As a pharmacist, I dealt with all sorts of people with digestive issues. Through the years I counseled people on various problems like indigestion, heartburn, constipation, diarrhea, and other maladies of the gastrointestinal tract. Depending on the problem, remedies were suggested.
Products like Tums and Prilosec for heartburn; products like Ex-Lax and Miralax for constipation, and products like Imodium for diarrhea, Emetrol for nausea and vomiting, and the ubiquitous Pepto-Bismol used for everything.
The newest category is probiotics, which helps restore good bacteria to the gut, specifically the large intestine or colon. Thus, probiotics could be classified as colon-aids.

This week’s prompt over at Carrot Ranch was to be about colonnades. Ninety-nine words (no more, no less) only, and to follow where the prompt leads. I have to say that I took it in a different direction than what might be expected. Blame my muse who is in a fickle mood.

I just love the pun. I knew a doc once who just despised Pepto – said it was a cure all for nothing.
Maybe he was one who’d rather prescribe something ‘harder’ for ills?

I have to admit that I rarely, if ever, recommended Pepto-Bismal to anyone. Sold plenty of people who chose it, but it was my aversion to it that kept me for suggesting it. There were other choices, better choices in my opinion, but it was perfect for my 99-word flash, Jules.

Thanks, Caroline. I hoped someone would appreciate the pun. Obviously you and Jules did. It must be a BC thing although Jules doesn’t spend much time there any more. ~nan

I’m not there as much either – but I keep registering, reading & releasing!

Ha… I just registered a book the other day. I do admit I don’t participate in many contests anymore though 🙂
I think one just has to love puns to be aware of that type of humor ;D

Me too. I stop by from time to time, and I do keep up, but I would rather read…so I can release.

I like how you twisted this prompt into a new, unexpected direction.

Thanks, Robert, for the compliment. The whole prompt thing of colonnades, I just couldn’t come up with anything so I returned to my roots as a pharmacist. Or when in doubt, use humor!
