Of course, getting a yearly flu shot is one of the best things anyone (over the age of 6 months) can do to prevent flu in the first place. I have gotten mine. How about you?

A pharmacist by profession, a haiku poet by nature, I read and write. I have a book of haiku, Ohayo Haiku, and another somewhat alternative haiku book, Three Breaths, but write other genres. I also read...lots of novels! My favorite is, and remains, Ayn Rand's Atlas Shrugged but I am also a big Harry Potter fan. I truly am a pedometer geek strapping on my pedometer as soon as I awaken.

I got shot… yes. But after a certain year adults are supposed to get an addition of something else. We know a guy who got that second shot and ended up out of work for almost two weeks because the prevention shot gave him what it was supposed to be stopping.

Scary when we have to depend on drugs. But when you don’t live in a cave you need to take care of yourself and those who you love.

    • I know that Rob gets a different vaccine than I do, but his is just stronger (there are not two shots in this series…just the one every year) flu strains.

While I don’t know the whole situation with your co-worker, I would suspect that there is something else going on that laid him up. A different vaccine or coincidence of timing, maybe?. The age-related vaccines are those for shingles (Shingrix and Zostavax) and for pneumonia and other pneumonacocal(Sp) bacterial diseases (Prevnar).

It was the pneumonia vaccine that the guy had a bad reaction to. I couldn’t get the pn and kept trying for ph…

Always odd to me how the ads say don’t use this vaccine if you are allergenic to it – If you don’t know how are you going to find out without getting it? I know you should know if you are allergic to some of the contents… but still.

      • I know…every medication and vaccine has that warning, and the only way to know if you are allergic to it is to have a reaction to it.
