Triathlon in a Month: Week 1

The Million Mile Month organization,, is having another event. In July, it is a triathlon, but participants don’t have to do the typical running, biking, and swimming that most people associate with triathlons; they can choose several other options including, but not limited to, gardening and yoga. It isn’t even necessary to do three different activities. The goal is also self-directed; participants can choose how aggressive a goal they wish to pursue.

This pedometer geek, or as a change-up, urban hiker, will be focusing on walking. Although there may be a few miles of the goal other than walking that will contribute to the total, most will logged as steps. The goal this urban hiker chose was one hundred miles.

As of the end of the first week, more than thirty-five miles have been logged of the hundred mile goal. With three weeks to go, this urban hiker is hoping to exceed the goal.

Despite a week in, participants are still welcomed so consider adding your name to the list and get moving. It is all about staying healthy. @HealthcodeIAM

    Good Luck to you! I’ve been trying to be out of doors and pulling weeds when it isn’t hot.
    Our health program through hubby’s work has goals to keep us busy if we want to earn extra points.
    I had a minor deflation when I learn that their buck = 10 cents. But I’ll live.

    Yesterday I didn’t make my 15,000 steps, but I did over 10,000. I just barely made my 5 mile goal.
    I did go back and fix my step and mile count from the beginning of this year. Total miles including all movement is 1,317 (about) 7 miles a day. I’m still working on getting up to 10 a day.

    And you have reminded me that I need to dust off my easy yoga and easy Tai Chi discs…

        Not to think that way… Since you were and are my inspiration in the walking for health department!

        I’m just not into registering… online for those health things – since I’m attached to hubby’s insurance stuff.

        I know I can do better health wise too. And eating better. I am going through stuff again. Still working on making my porch more useful other than for storage. :S

  2. Thanks, that is quite a compliment. I do understand that, but I figure I might as well promote the event. For me, it gives me an extra incentive to move AND more importantly, give to American Diabetes Association as that is what my charity money goes to. It isn’t necessary to donate, but I generally do.
