Ericka Dunlap, who wore the crown in 2004, is, among other things, an entrepreneur and social philanthropist.
In her entrepreneurial role, Ericka served as Principal Consultant of her own firm, Crown Communication Group (CCG), which was a diversity communications and international strategic partnership firm. Ericka was the primary communications advisor for various public officials at the local, state, federal, and international levels. Her company has represented clients throughout the Caribbean, South Africa, Kenya, Ghana, Amsterdam, Austria, and the United Kingdom.
The foundation of her career success began with her reign as she traveled the United States, becoming a professional spokesperson supporting Diversity Best Practices and Cultural Competencies. Moreover, she has traveled to over twenty countries as a lecturer, and like other Miss A. Sisters, she went to Iraq, Afghanistan, and Kuwait on two different occasions to honor and support U.S. soldiers serving abroad.
In Ericka’s social philanthropist role, she maintains a deep association with organizations advocating for Women’s and Girls’ Empowerment, Advancement, and Entrepreneur on a global scale. The Crown Jewel Foundation, her charitable 501(c)(3) organization, offers etiquette and professional development mentoring to women and girls. Her current projects raise funds and awareness for the Go Red for Women Campaign, Saris for Change, and Light Up a Girl’s Life Organization.
A dynamic performer, she co-wrote and co-produced her self-titled Country music album, and also performed as the principle songstress in the Off-Broadway hit musical, Disenchanted. Not only that, but as a self-proclaimed “adventurista,” she finished as the third place finalist in Season 15’s The Amazing Race, a high impact, Emmy award-winning reality show.
Her talent will be showcased, along with the other eight Miss A. Sisters, on October 3, 2015 at the upcoming Celebrate America program.
